Adventure Route Construction

Volunteer groups are building new trail just off the 4000 Road and hope to be able to open this section within the next couple of months. (posted 2 Oct, 2011)


Temporary Route - Lower Elwha Rd. to Elwha River Bridge

The 0.6 mile section of trail going west from Lower Elwha Rd. and linking with the completed trail to the Elwha River Bridge was not quite completed before winter weather stopped paving operations. Trail users will be able to use the surface of the new road to reach the continuing trail untill paving recommences in the spring. The actual trail route, which is on the south side of the road, will be used by local vehicle traffic during this period, since the roadbed will not yet support vehicles. (posted Nov, 24, 2011)


Trail Reopens - Port Angeles Waterfront

Seawall repairs on the Waterfront Trail in Port Angeles have been discontinued for the winter. Work will resume again in the spring as weather allows. (Posted Dec. 15, 2011)


Trail Completion in Jefferson County

Upgrades of 1.5 miles of the Larry Scott Trail, the eastern 8 miles of the Olympic Discovery Trail, have been completed and are now open for public use. Additional mileage from S. Discovery Rd to the Four Corners intersection on Hwy 20 is scheduled for construction in the summer of 2012. (Posted Nov. 1, 2010)


070 Road Closure

The 070 Road (in the west end of Clallam Co.) is closed to vehicles from Forest Rd 2929 Junction to the end of the 070 Rd for replacement of culverts and construction by Clallam Co. in preparation for Olympic Discovery Trail. There will be machine activity possibly through November on weekdays only. Foot traffic should use extreme caution and wait to make sure operators see them before passing through construction areas. Trail Construction in West Port Angeles

Trail Construction by volunteers on the former Milwaukee RR Grade is nearing completion from !0th St to 18th St. This section is now open for use . Work on the 18th St to Lower Elwha Rd section will commence in late Oct.. (Posted Sept 15, 2011, update Oct. 14)
